Ibn Umar was asked about the two rakahs before Maghrib. He replied, "I never saw anyone during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray them." He did, however, permit the two rakahs after Asr.

Its isnad is hasan. Abd bin Humayd narrated it, no. 804, from the hadith of Shubah in a shortened form, and Bayhaqi, 2/476, 477, from the hadith of Abu Dawud, similarly.
