The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to Khalid bin Sufyan al-Hudhali, who was somewhere near Urana and Arafat. He said, "Go and kill him."Talq said, I caught sight of him just as the time for the afternoon prayer arrived. I thought to myself, I fear that something may happen between us that would cause me to delay the prayer. So I set out walking toward him while praying, performing the prayer with gestures as I went.When I drew near him, he asked me, "Who are you?"I replied, "A man from among the Arabs. I have heard that you are gathering forces against this man, so I have come to join you in that."He said, "Indeed, that is what I am doing."So I walked alongside him for a while, and when I had the chance, I struck him down with my sword until he was dead.

بعثني رسول الله ﷺ إلى خالد بن سفيان الهذلي وكان نحو عرنة وعرفات فقال اذهب فاقتله قال فرأيته وحضرت صلاة العصر فقلت إني أخاف أن يكون بيني وبينه ما إن أؤخر الصلاة فانطلقت أمشي وأنا أصلي أومئ إيماء نحوه فلما دنوت منه قال لي من أنت قلت رجل من العرب بلغني أنك تجمع لهذا الرجل فجئتك في ذاك قال إني لفي ذاك فمشيت معه ساعة حتى إذا أمكنني علوته بسيفي حتى برد
[Hasan]. Ahmad narrated it (3/496) from the hadith of Ibn Ishaq through this route, and Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 982, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 591.The son of Abdullah bin Unays was named Abdullah, see Dalail Nubuwwah by Bayhaqi, 4/42.
