The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in Mecca when the sun set, and he combined the two prayers at Sarif.

أن رسول الله ﷺ غابت له الشمس بمكة فجمع بينهما بسرف
Sourcing, its isnad is daif. Nasai narrated it in the Book of Prayer Times, chapter on the time in which a traveler combines Maghrib and Isha, hadith no. 594, from the narration of Yahya bin Muhammad Jari, through this route.Abu Zubayr is a mudallis, and I did not find an explicit statement that he heard it directly.
