During the expedition of Tabuk, if the sun began to decline before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out, he would combine the Zuhr and Asr prayers. If he set out before the sun declined, he would delay Zuhr until he stopped to pray Asr. He did the same with Maghrib. If the sun set before he set out, he would combine Maghrib and Isha. If he set out before sunset, he would delay Maghrib until he stopped to pray Isha, then he would combine the two.

أن رسول الله ﷺ كان في غزوة تبوك إذا زاغت الشمس قبل أن يرتحل جمع بين الظهر والعصر وإن يرتحل قبل أن تزيغ الشمس أخر الظهر حتى ينزل للعصر وفي المغرب مثل ذلك إن غابت الشمس قبل أن يرتحل جمع بين المغرب والعشاء وإن يرتحل قبل أن تغيب الشمس أخر المغرب حتى ينزل للعشاء ثم جمع بينهما
