The sun was eclipsed, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed and the people prayed with him. He stood for a long time, roughly the length of Surah al-Baqarah, then he bowed. And he continued with the hadith.
حدثنا القعنبي عن مالك عن زيد بن أسلم عن عطاء بن يسار
خسفت الشمس فصلى رسول الله ﷺ والناس معه فقام قياما طويلا بنحو من سورة البقرة ثم ركع وساق الحديث
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Eclipses, chapter "Prayer of the Eclipse in Congregation," hadith no. 1052, from Qanabi, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Eclipses, chapter "What Was Shown to the Prophet ﷺ Regarding Paradise and Hell During the Eclipse Prayer," hadith no. 907, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain. It is also found in the Muwatta (Yahya's recension), 1/186, 187.
