The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out and led the people in prayer. He stood, and I estimated his recitation, judging that he recited Surah al-Baqarah. He continued the hadith, then he performed two prostrations, then stood again and prolonged the recitation. I estimated his recitation and judged that he recited Surah Al Imran.
حدثنا عبيد الله بن سعد حدثنا عمي حدثنا أبي عن محمد بن إسحق حدثني هشام بن عروة وعبد الله بن أبي سلمة عن سليمان بن يسار كلهم قد حدثني عن عروة
كسفت الشمس على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فخرج رسول الله ﷺ فصلى بالناس فقام فحزرت قراءته فرأيت أنه قرأ بسورة البقرة وساق الحديث ثم سجد سجدتين ثم قام فأطال القراءة فحزرت قراءته أنه قرأ بسورة آل عمران
[Its isnad is hasan] Bayhaqi narrated it, 3/335, from the hadith of Ubaydullah bin Saad, through the same chain, and Hakim graded it sahih according to the criteria of Muslim, 1/333, 334, and Dhahabi agreed with him. See also the following hadith, 1191.
