The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ stood for a very long time leading the people in prayer. He would stand, then bow, then stand, then bow, then stand, then bow, performing two rakahs with three bowings in each rakah, bowing the third time and then prostrating. On that day, some men fainted from the length of his standing, so much so that buckets of water had to be poured over them. When he bowed he would say, "Allahu Akbar," and when he rose he would say, "Allah hears whoever praises Him," until the sun became clear again. Then he said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse for the death or birth of anyone, but they are two signs among the signs of Allah by which He frightens His servants. So when they are eclipsed, hasten to prayer."
Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Eclipse, in the chapter on the eclipse prayer, hadith 901:6, from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj through the same chain.
