Ayesha reported,

The people complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the lack of rain, so he ordered that a pulpit be set up for him at the prayer ground, and he appointed a day for the people to come out.Ayesha said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out just as the first edge of the sun appeared and sat down on the pulpit. He ﷺ pronounced the greatness of Allah and praised Allah , and then said, 'You have complained of the drought in your lands and of the rain holding back past its usual season. Allah has commanded you to call upon Him and has promised that He will answer you.'Then he said, "All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, Master of the Day of Judgment" [Fatihah 1:2–4]. "There is no god but Allah. He does whatever He wills. Allah, You are Allah, there is no god but You. You are the Rich and we are the poor. Send down rain upon us, and make what You send down a source of strength for us and provision for a time to come."Then he raised his hands and kept them raised until the whiteness of his armpits showed. Then he turned his back to the people and turned his cloak inside out, still holding his hands raised. Then he faced the people again, came down, and prayed two units of prayer.Allah then brought forth a cloud, and it thundered and flashed with lightning, and then it rained by Allah's permission. He had not yet reached his mosque before the water was running in torrents. When he saw how quickly they ran for shelter, he ﷺ laughed until his back teeth showed and said, "I bear witness that Allah has power over all things, and that I am Allah's servant and His Messenger."

عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت

شكا الناس إلى رسول الله ﷺ قحوط المطر فأمر بمنبر فوضع له في المصلى ووعد الناس يوما يخرجون فيه قالت عائشة فخرج رسول الله ﷺ حين بدا حاجب الشمس فقعد على المنبر فكبر ﷺ وحمد الله عز وجل ثم قال إنكم شكوتم جدب دياركم واستئخار المطر عن إبان زمانه عنكم وقد أمركم الله عز وجل أن تدعوه ووعدكم أن يستجيب لكم ثم قال {الحمد لله رب العالمين الرحمن الرحيم ملك يوم الدين} لا إله إلا الله يفعل ما يريد اللهم أنت الله لا إله إلا أنت الغني ونحن الفقراء أنزل علينا الغيث واجعل ما أنزلت لنا قوة وبلاغا إلى حين ثم رفع يديه فلم يزل في الرفع حتى بدا بياض إبطيه ثم حول إلى الناس ظهره وقلب أو حول رداءه وهو رافع يديه ثم أقبل على الناس ونزل فصلى ركعتين فأنشأ الله سحابة فرعدت وبرقت ثم أمطرت بإذن الله فلم يأت مسجده حتى سالت السيول فلما رأى سرعتهم إلى الكن ضحك ﷺ حتى بدت نواجذه فقال أشهد أن الله على كل شيء قدير وأني عبد الله ورسوله
