The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the prayer for rain while wearing a black cloak of his. He intended to take its lower edge and turn it to become the upper edge, but when it proved too heavy, he flipped it over his shoulder instead.
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا عبد العزيز عن عمارة بن غزية عن عباد بن تميم أن
استسقى رسول الله ﷺ وعليه خميصة له سوداء فأراد رسول الله ﷺ أن يأخذ بأسفلها فيجعله أعلاها فلما ثقلت قلبها على عاتقه
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Hakim narrated it, 1/327, from the hadith of Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad, and graded it sahih according to the criteria of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with him, and Ibn Mulaqqin graded it sahih in Tuhfat al-Muhtaj, 734.
