The Messenger of Allah's ﷺ prayer was moderate in length, and so was his sermon. He would recite verses from the Quran and remind the people.
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يحيى عن سفيان قال حدثني سماك
كانت صلاة رسول الله ﷺ قصدا وخطبته قصدا يقرأ آيات من القرآن ويذكر الناس
Its isnad is sahih. Nasai narrated it in the chapter on recitation and remembrance in the second sermon of the Friday prayer, 1419, and Ibn Majah, no. 1106, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, with this same wording, and Muslim narrated it, no. 866, from the hadith of Abu Ahwas from Simak, with a similar wording.
