I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When one of you wakes from sleep, he should not dip his hand into the vessel until he has washed it three times, for none of you knows where his hand spent the night or where it has been wandering."
حدثنا أحمد بن عمرو بن السرح ومحمد بن سلمة المرادي قالا حدثنا ابن وهب عن معاوية بن صالح عن أبي مريم قال سمعت
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إذا استيقظ أحدكم من نومه فلا يدخل يده في الإناء حتى يغسلها ثلاث مرات فإن أحدكم لا يدري أين باتت يده أو أين كانت تطوف يده
Sourcing, its isnad is sahih, Daraqutni narrated it, 1/50, hadith 127, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Wahb, with this wording, and he said, "This is a hasan isnad." Ibn Hibban also graded it sahih (Al-Ihsan), 1058.
